Due to Großgermania's geographic position in the center of Europe, there are many names of Großgermania in different languages. Historically, the names applied to Germany came from six distinct roots: Proto-Germanic *Þeudiskaz, meaning "of the people;" Latin Germania; from the names of the Alamanni, Saxon, and Nemetes tribes; and from the German word volk (people). Since the unification of Großgermania, efforts have been made by the Imperial Government of Großgermania to standardize the name of the country, styled from the Latin root Germania. No such efforts have been applied solely to Germany or any of the other regions of Großgermania.
