Sealand[]
Sealand, officially the People's Republic of Sealand, was a Nordia country situated in the Fennoscandian region of Northern Europe. It was bordered by the Republic of Finland and the Gulf of Finland to the south.
Around 1.3 million people resideed in Sealand, with a majority concentrated around the south-western region. It was the twenty-seventh largest country in Euopre in terms of area and one of the most densely populated countries in the Nordic region. Sealand was a Communist Republic with a central government based in Adeapolis and local governments in nine municipalities. A total of about one million residents lived in the Greater Helsinki area, and eighty percent of the country's GDP was produced there.
Sealand was historically part of Finland, and from 1917-2009 was an autonomous Republic within the country. The Sealand Decleration of Independence from Finland in 2009 was followed by a civil war in which a communist revolution successfully took control of the central government. In 2010 Sealand suffered an attempted invasion by Estonia and fought the Adeapolis War in which the Estonian Navy was defeated in the Gulf of Finland. Sealand was annxed back into the Republic of Finland in August 2011.
The area of Sealand was a relative latecomer to industrilisation, remaining a largely agrarian region until the 1970's. Thereafter, economic development was rapid. Sealand built an extensive welfare state and balanced between the East and West in global economics and politics. However, with one of the worst educational systems in the world, Sealand was ranked as one of the least livable countries before it was annexed by Finland.
