Global Radiation Level

From the Cyber Nations Wiki, the wiki dedicated to the Cyber Nations Game.

(Redirected from Global radiation)
The Global Radiation Level is a simple addition to the game that should have a major impact on how nuclear weapons are used within the game; in particular it should make the use of nukes more realistic. As suggested by RMMP in this thread the global radiation level works as follows:
The 30 Day history chart of the Global Radiation Level as seen on the World Demographics screen

The game counts the number of nations that have been hit with nuclear weapons within the past 30 days and then takes 2% of that count and adds it to every nation’s environment as an environment penalty (with a maximum of 5.0). If there are 50 nations attacked with nuclear weapons in the past 30 days EVERY nation will receive a -1 environment penalty. The current Global Radiation value, which is the actual value added as the environment penalty, can be found on your nation information screen. If the Global Radiation level falls below .20 (which means 10 nuclear attacks or less per month) EVERY nation will receive +1 happiness. The World Demographics screen provides information as to how many nations have been attacked with nuclear weapons in the past 30 days.

  • As of July 17th, 2006, the global radiation effect level could not exceed 3.00, however the actual global radiation is visible under the World Demographics section. The highest recorded level was 5.9 as of the 31st July 2006.
  • As of January 27th, 2007, the global radiation cap was increased to 5.00.
  • As of January 30th, 2007, Global radiation has been removed from Cybernations Standard. It remains in Cybernations Tournament Edition.
  • As of November 1st 2007, Global Radiation has been reintroduced. Cap was set to 5.0.
  • In August of 2008, the Global Radiation level jumped in a matter of days from 1.0 to 12.29, though its effects were capped at 5.0. This came mostly as a result of the massive War of the Coalition, which began on August 11th and led to the record-setting Global Radiation reported on the 18th. Following the effective end of the war, the lingering radiation levels did not drop below the cap until September 24th.
  • The Global Radiation level continued to set records, reaching 14.76 on September 2nd.
  • As of the 27 of September, 2008, the Global Radiation continued down to 2.72.
  • By December 28, 2008,the radiation level had finally dropped to 0.66

[edit] Karma War

During the Karma War, Nuclear Proliferation was seen on a grand scale, and the Global Radiation Level reached incredible heights.

Beginning on April 23, the Global Radiation Level rose to levels never seen prior to the war.

  • The day the war began, the GRL was at 1.43.
  • On the first day of nuclear strikes, it rose to 3.04.
  • It rose steadily from there, reaching 45.00 on May 12
  • Sets a record high at 47.47 on May 24.
  • It subsequently fell to 22.84 by June 6, and by June 20, it had come down 10.53.
  • By July 20, a day after NPO surrendered, the level had dropped to 4.52.
