The Triune Republic was established on September 25th, 2007.
[edit] Invicta
Invicta has been Jorost's only home since he joined the Cyberverse. He joined Invicta on September 25, 2007, shortly after receiving a recruitment message from Striderjg, then the alliance's MoIA. Shortly thereafter, he was attacked by KingBigOne, a rogue with an irrational dislike of Invicta (the casus belli for this war was "Invicta sucks"). Although unfamiliar with the mechanics of warfare, Jorost was able to decisively triumph over KingBigOne with guidance from Haflinger of Llonach and three million dollars in aid from Czar Alexander of Vladneirmarkov and help from other members, namely King Hobbs of Pflugerville
After the war, Jorost quickly acclimated to the culture and politics of Invicta. He proved an able recruiter, and was made Deputy Minister of Recruitment by the alliance's founder and co-president, Dawny of New Dawnland. However, by the end of the year it was clear that Jorost's interests and proclivities lay more on the administrative side of alliance operations, prompting Dawny to make him Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs (DMoIA).
As DMoIA, Jorost earned a reputation for being a firm but fair arbitrator of justice. He also took an active part in developing overall alliance policy. During this period he developed personal friendships with many senior Invicta members, notably Dawny, Synagence of Spoontonia, and Sperley of Sonata Vaticana. By April 2008, Jorost had become the de facto head of Internal Affairs and a member of the informal "inner circle" that had coalesced around Dawny. At this point he was widely regarded to be one of the three or four most influential members of the alliance.
On June 10, 2008, Jorost officially became Invicta's Minister of Internal Affairs (MoIA). In this position he played a major role in the restructuring of alliance government that took place in July-August, as a result of which Jorost was promoted to Prime Minister (PM), a position he held concurrently with MoIA. As PM Jorost was the third-highest ranking member of Invicta.
Dawny announced her intention to step down from the presidency in August 2008, naming Atlashill of Kansouri as her successor. He was confirmed on August 17, and appointed Jorost Vice President. This represented the first time since late 2007 that Jorost had not occupied an office in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Vice President Jorost was highly active and influential in matters of alliance politics and administration, and often acted as the voice of Invicta's government in Atlashill's stead. It was also during this period that Jorost, long steeped in the internal aspects of alliance governance, began to take his first serious steps into the arena of foreign affairs, sometimes with mixed success.
In early 2009 Atlashill informed Jorost of his decision to resign as president. On January 19, 2009, Jorost took office as President of Invicta.
[edit] Presidency
In accordance with Invicta's Charter, Jorost stood for a confirmation vote ("retention") by the eligible members of the alliance on February 19, 2009. Jorost was confirmed as president with 92% of the vote.
Soon after his retention, Jorost embarked on a program of reform informally referred to as "Invicta 2.0," intended to stimulate growth and cast off some of the outdated habits of the alliance's government and culture. One of the first steps was a revision of the alliance's Charter to eliminate retentions and clarify Invicta's governing structure; these changes were approved with an 83% vote of the eligible membership.
On March 12, 2009, Jorost moved Invicta's forums from InvisionFree to Zetaboards and introduced a new alliance flag, designed by Synagence. Both the new boards and the flag had a more striking and dynamic graphic design that the president felt better represented both Invicta's character and his own vision. On March 31, 2009, Jorost announced that Meritokrati, an alliance formed by former Invicta members Sir Glen of Noumenopolis and Timitz of Blitzwehr, had reunified with Invicta.
By early April the tensions that would ultimately lead to the Karma War were reaching a critical mass. Jorost held to a position of neutrality on the fundamental issues in dispute. Nevertheless, Jorost felt it was essential that Invicta honor her treaty commitments, so when war broke out on April 20, 2008, the alliance sided with the New Pacific Order and declared war on Orion. In his declaration of war, Jorost tried to refute Invicta's reputation as a vassal of NPO while asserting his belief that keeping their treaty promise was paramount. Within days, Invicta was at war with eight alliances (Orion, TAB, TCB, RoK, FOK, TOP, TSO and CSN), and, while holding her own, was taking a significant amount of damage.
On the night of April 28, 2009, Invicta was offered – and accepted – white peace. The surrender proved to be something of a diplomatic fiasco for Jorost, who neglected to consult with Invicta's allies, notably the United Purple Nations, who had specifically delayed accepting peace themselves in order not to leave Invicta to fight alone. The surrender also stood in stark contrast to Jorost's vow, just days before, to fight on despite the odds. Jorost viewed the whole affair as a personal failure on his part, and even briefly considered resigning from office. A unanimous show of support from Invicta's government convinced him to stay on, but since then Jorost has vowed never again to overlook an ally and has taken a much more direct role in overseeing Invicta's foreign affairs. On July 20, 2009, Jorost and Altheus, leader of UPN, announced a new MADP.
In the wake of the Karma War Invicta had lost some 20% of her combined NS, and once "peaced out" undertook a rebuilding program. On June 9, 2009 the alliance Nebula-X merged into Invicta, significantly boosting the newly combined alliance's strength. By mid-July Invicta had broken the 4 million NS barrier.

[edit] Style of Leadership
Although an absolute dictator, Jorost describes his approach to leadership as "dictatorship by consensus." He generally seeks out the advice of his government and advisers in all major decisions, and attempts to synthesize the various opinions he receives into coherent policy. He readily admits that he enjoys being president and the tongue-in-cheek "cult of personality" that has been built up around him. He has been criticized, however, for his sometimes short attention span (he despises reading long log dumps, for example) and his tendency to do things in manic bursts of activity. Jorost is generally regarded as an excellent communicator.
[edit] Goals for Invicta
Jorost would love to see Invicta become a leading alliance on Purple and, by extension, in CN in general. He believes in the dream of Purple unity, and in pursuit of it has sought to strengthen relations with the other Purple alliances, especially UPN. Jorost would like to someday see the sphere initiate a policy of "Pan Purple Protection" similar to the Revenge Doctrine.
[edit] Memorable People and Events
Loving People
Striderjg, Jorost's initial recruiter. He spontaneously vanished from CN in November 2007, and Jorost, concerned that something terrible had happened, was strongly in favor of trying to track him down in RL. Jorost believed, despite other Invicta members' apparent indifference, that Striderjg's disappearance was suspiciously out of character. Much later Jorost learned that Striderjg had simply tired of CN and left.
| “ | Heh. So that was a lesson to me in how people come and go in the game. | ” |
Another person who was – and continues to be – a great influence to Jorost is Haflinger. Haf spent a lot of time explaining the mechanics of the game early on, and serves as Jorost's senior foreign policy guru to this day.
| “ | I adopted his belief that there should be room in CN for small players to just have a nation and be without having to worry about being attacked by rogues or forced to follow a party line, etc. In fact it was Haf who made me aware that NPO largely made those things possible. | ” |
Dawny was extremely kind to Jorost when he first joined Invicta, and was always willing to listen to his ideas despite his being new to CN. Jorost asserst that it was dawny who taught him how to be good leader.
Lord Philip, Synagence and Sperley have all become great friends with Jorost and that bond travels to wherever they find themselves on Planet Bob.
Moments in Time
- Haf informing Jorost that he had been made DMoR on IRC by opening a query with "You're gov."
- The day Atlashill said he would be stepping down, and that the alliance would be Jorost's.
- The decision to go to war against Karma, especially the brief period during which Invicta thought they'd be fighting RoK alone.
- Shortly after Jorost thought he had badly mangled the handling of Invicta's withdrawal from the Karma War, when he was ready to resign, and every member of Invicta's government signed a petition for him to stay.

- "An Englishman trapped in an American's body, inconveniently for both of them." - Lord Philip of Invicta (nation name, not to be confused with the Invicta alliance), CN gadfly and all-around scoundrel
[edit] Awards Won
| My Ribbon Rack | ||

| “ | ...As president I am "Font of Honor," in other words the source of all awards and honors, and so I do not wear my awards nor do I allow myself to be given any by Invicta, because I do not feel it is appropriate while I am in office (the one exception would be if I received an award from an outside alliance for something I did as president). As I see it these were awarded to "private citizen" Jorost, and as long as I am in office I am "President Jorost," which is a bit different. | ” |
