Providence served as the capital of Rhode Island, during the United States, Maritime Colony, and Republic of New England periods of control over the region. Throughout it's time in J Andres, Endor Cuidad had always been the capital, yet Providence's importance never ceased. Providence's status as a major city remained and it was a hub of commercial activity.

In 2017, as part of the two year plan for revitalization, Providence was to undergo intense urbanization. Providence's previous population was just over 1 million, although after this urbanization period, the population skyrocketed to 8.3 million. Large number of residential skyscrapers were constructed and businesses expanded as well.

In 2033, Providence was struck by a nuclear weapon destroying nearly the entire city. 278,000 civilians died in the attack and the entire downtown area had been destroyed.

In 2053, following the 2052 Elections, President Evan McDowell authorized the construction of an International Trade Center to serve as the center of J Andres International Commerce.^[1] While the Mercton Port House in Boston serves as the central hub of J Andres trade, the International Trade Center serves as the meeting place of multinational corporations who wish to do business in J Andres.
