Maple is the capital city of Southmoor. Maple boasts a highly livable quality of life and an impressive downtown serving as the economic and governmental center of activity.
Residents take pride in the fact that the city is well served by public transit and contains a highly integrated park and recreation structure. The Maple Electric Transit Company, or MET, operates an intrinsic system of elevated trains, subways, and streetcars. Rowhouse neighborhoods, as shown below, line the residential streets of Maple.
Maple is a chief port city and transportation nucleus. The city is served by four major railroads: Chicago, Santa Fe & Pacific; Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific; Burlington Great Northern Pacific; and Chicago and North Western. The Rock Island Railroad is headquartered in neighboring city Rock Island. Maple Union Station, the hub of passenger transport, was built in 1925.
