Independence Council

The Independence Council was a defensive alliance between the United Civilized States and the Grand Global Alliance. Ex-Members include the New Pacific Order, LUEnited Nations, and the Orange Defense Network. It was disbanded in all but name in May 2006.

[edit] Preamble
In recognition that the founding four respective alliances, the Orange Defense Network, United Civilized States, The LUEnited Nations, and the Grand Global Alliance are committed to the continued prosperity and development of their respective member nations and trading spheres, we, the assembled members of the aforementioned alliances, resolve to enter into this agreement between our four alliances in the belief that it will provide increased safety and prosperity for each of our organizations.

The Independence Council Mutual Defense Pact will be in effect immediately and unto perpetuity unless any side terminates said alliance or any side participates, or has member nations participate, in military action against member nations of the other signatory bodies, or sovereign nations within their respective trading spheres. If any alliance terminates this agreement they will inform the other parties at least four days before carrying out any activity against the previous partnered alliances unless the reason for termination is overt military action from the counter-signed alliance.

The Independence Council will act as predetermined authorization from all parties to formally request assistance in any war against any unsigned alliance or nation, or financial assistance in peacetime. Each treatied alliance has the option to refuse said request but can not use said refusal as means of breaking the alliance outside the normal means determined in Article I. An attack on one or more signatory alliances shall be deemed an attack on them all.

The Orange Defense Network, United Civilized States, The LUEnited Nations, and the Grand Global Alliance recognize the need for selective protection in regards to the security and well being of member nations. To that end the signatory alliances agree to share intelligence that is determined to be detrimental in nature to the well-being of any member alliance. The sharing of said intelligence will be handled strictly via formal diplomatic channels.
